Bayliner’s New VR6:
Designed to spoil you

Bayliner’s new VR Series runabouts have been getting a lot of attention this year. In fact, its new VR5 won the Miami International Boat Show’s Innovation award for Best Bowrider or Cuddy. Its larger sister, the VR6, is another value-packed option that adds some unique touches that are sure to spoil boaters looking for not only a great value, but something with that certain something extra to set their boat and boating experience apart.

The Bayliner VR6’s innovative design is similar to its smaller counterpart, the VR5. It employs the same two design approaches; BeamForward™ and AftAdvantage™, that result in a remarkable amount of usable space. When you compare the bow section of the VR6, which has a running surface of 20 feet, to like-size runabouts, the difference in space is obvious. A traditional design’s more pointed bow quickly limits its usable space. The VR6’s design creates a, large, oversized bow rider section.

In the cockpit, most runabout designs begin integrating their swim platforms over the running surface, the VR6 moves the swim platform aft of it, using all the area over the hull for seating and lounging. Together with the boat’s full 8 feet of beam, this makes the VR6 a standout value when it comes to cost per square foot. Comparatively, the VR6 has the interior space of boats up to 2 feet longer—most typical 20 foot runabouts will actually fit inside the new VR6, which has a LOA of 22’ 4” but priced comparable to most 20-footers.

The VR6 also has an enclosed changing room/head compartment—a category exclusive in a 20 foot runabout—a three-position companion seat, rear lounger with walk-thru, aft-facing observer seat/U-lounge combination, self bailing cockpit, a quick-planing Deep-V hull design with all-fiberglass stringer system, and distinctive hull side sculpting. We think you’ll see Bayliner has made innovative strides in redefining what boaters can expect in a 20-foot runabout.
